English:
Meetings with School Groups in Seven Municipalities Across Kosovo
As part of the project “Promotion and Realization of Roma Rights in Kosovo and Albania,” NGO Nevo Koncepti organized meetings with 26 school groups across seven municipalities in Kosovo: Prishtina, Prizren, Peja, Klina, Gjakova, Ferizaj, and South Mitrovica, bringing together parents and children from the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities.
As these were the first meetings of the new school year, the first part was dedicated to the activity “New Beginnings, New Opportunities,” which aimed to encourage reflection and discussion among parents about the start of the school year, their expectations, challenges, and new opportunities for their children. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of family support and cooperation with schools to ensure a successful academic year.
The second part of the meetings focused on promoting the importance of personal hygiene and children’s healthcare. Through discussions and the distribution of informational materials, parents and children received practical guidance on daily hygiene practices, with the aim of preventing illnesses and encouraging healthy habits.
Furthermore, in cooperation with medical professionals from the Main Family Medicine Centers (MFMCs) in the municipalities where the project activities are implemented, basic health check-ups were conducted for children, and medical advice was provided to parents. This activity aimed to promote preventive healthcare, facilitate the early identification of potential health concerns, and raise parents’ awareness of the importance of their children’s health and well-being.
Through these meetings, we aim to strengthen cooperation between families, schools, and healthcare institutions, contributing to better conditions for every child’s development, health, and educational inclusion.
This project is implemented by a consortium of partners consisting of the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS), Nevo Koncepti (NVK), and Social Justice (DS), in partnership with Karl Kübel Stiftung (KKS), with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS).
